In Rhodes, the largest of Greece’s Dodecanese islands, known for its occupation by the Knights of St. John during the Crusades, Prosvasis and InterMedi@KT teams tried to locate and pin on the prosvasimo.com map as many fully accessible points of interest (addr.POI) as possible. Rhodes is one of the most cosmopolitan travel destinations in Greece and one out of our three islands that has a Casino. In fact, it is one of the few regions in Greece that attracts tourists long before the mass tourism explosion period. This is the main reason for the high level tourism infrastructure provided. At the northernmost point of the island of Rhodes, in the region of Niohori, that is built on a sandy land area, that leads to the deep blue waters of Aegean, there is a large area of an accessible beach promenade, where one can enjoy the mesmerizing view.
It was such a beautiful experience visiting Rhodes island and mapping island’s accessible POIs, in order to provide a variety of options to the disabled people all over the world.
Special thanks to Mr Mihalis Hatzis, captain of Rhodes trolley basketball team and the rest of its members for their valuable help and information.
The trip continues alongside with the need for this kind of information…
